چکیده

This is a continuation of [16] where the complete diagram of metric normalizers of the fundamental groupG= ⊗ in Isom H will be determined (Table 2). Thus we completely classify the symmetry groups N/G of the 3− surface, i.e. the connected sum of 3 projective planes, into 12 normalizer classes, up to topological equivariance, by the algorithm for fundamental domains, developed in [9], [10], [11] and [15], aided by computer. Our algorithm is applicable for any compact surface with exponential complexity by the genus g.

Polyominoes and Polyiamonds as Fundamental Domains of Isohedral Tilings with Rotational Symmetry

We describe computer algorithms that produce the complete set of isohedral tilings by n-omino or n-iamond tiles in which the tiles are fundamental domains and the tilings have 3-, 4-, or 6-fold rotational symmetry. The symmetry groups of such tilings are of types p3, p31m, p4, p4g, and p6. There are no isohedral tilings with p3m1, p4m, or p6m symmetry groups that have polyominoes or polyiamonds...

Intricate Isohedral Tilings of 3D Euclidean Space

Various methods to create intricate tilings of 3D space are presented. They include modulated extrusions of 2D Escher tilings, free-form deformations of the fundamental domain of various 3D symmetry groups, highly symmetrical polyhedral toroids of genus 1, higher-genus cage structures derived from the cubic lattice as well as from the diamond and triamond lattices, and finally interlinked tiles...

Polyominoes and Polyiamonds as Fundamental Domains for Isohedral Tilings of Crystal Class D2

We describe computer algorithms that produce the complete set of isohedral tilings by n-omino or n-iamond tiles in which the tiles are fundamental domains and the tilings have pmm, pmg, pgg or cmm symmetry [1]. These symmetry groups are members of the crystal class D2 among the 17 two-dimensional symmetry groups [2]. We display the algorithms’ output and give enumeration tables for small values...

Realization of Regular Maps of Large Genus

Regular map is an algebraic concept to describe most symmetric tilings of closed surfaces of arbitrary genus. All regular maps resp. symmetric tilings of surfaces up to genus 302 are algebraically known in the form of symmetry groups acting on their universal covering spaces. But still little is known about geometric realizations, i.e. finding most symmetric embeddings of closed surfaces and a ...
